The world's biggest social networking company Facebook has bought messaging app WhatsApp in a deal worth a total of $19bn (£11.4bn) in cash and shares. It is Facebook's biggest acquisition to date and bigger than any that Microsoft, Google or Apple have ever done. The purchase includes $12 billion in Facebook shares, $4 billion cash and an additional $3 billion in restricted stock units to begranted to WhatsApp founders and employees that will vest over four years.

Whatsapp which allows people to send texts, audio and video over the Internet was founded five years ago by Jan Koum and Brian Acton and now has subscriber base of more than 450 million users. Mark Zuckerberg termed the services of Whatsapp as incredibly valuable. Whatsapp CEO, Jan Koum stated that the tie-up will give WhatsApp the flexibility to grow and expand.

Google's biggest deal was Motorola Mobility which stood at $12.5 billion, while Microsoft's largest was Skype at $8.5 billion. Apple has never done a deal above $1 billion. Facebook's previous biggest acquisition was Instagram, which it bought for $1bn in 2012.

WhatsApp is the popular free messaging app. There are some other free messaging applications built for Smartphone users but WhatsApp is the leader in terms of users. WhatsApp is the most prefered messaging app. WhatsApp has more than 450 million active users worldwide and millions of users are getting added up each month. By seeing the popularity of this messaging app, the social networking giant Facebook acquired WhatsApp for 19billion dollars.

WhatsApp enables users to share texts, photos, audios, videos, locations with others. Users are liking every single features of WhatsApp except one i.e. the 'last seen at' timestamp. Many users do not wish to show their activities (like 'last seen' status) to others. This feature i.e hiding the 'last seen at' timestamp was already available for iOS but Android users were deprived of this features but not anymore because now Android WhatsApp users can also hide their 'last seen at' timestamp. To get this feature you need to update your WhatsApp app. New users can get this feature directly after installation.

How To Hide 'Last Seen At' Timestamp in WhatsApp-

1) Update your existing WhatsApp app on your phone or download and install new WhatsApp app from Google Play Store.

2) Open Whatsapp and go to settings.

3) Now go to Account

4) Go to Privacy

5) Go to Last seen and there you can change the option.

-Select 'Everyone', if you do not want to hide your last seen status.
-Select 'My contacts' to show last seen status only those whose mobile number is saved in your phone
-Select 'Nobody' to hide your last seen status from everyone.
