Xiaomi to debut global version of MIUI 7 On August 19 in India
"Some users might be confused about the MIUI 7 launch schedules. For your information, MIUI 7 China ROM will be introduced in China on August 13, and MIUI 7 global ROM with tailored features for global fans will be unveiled on August 19 in India," said the official forum post.
The MIUI 7 is likely to be based in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and will bring several new features. The details are scarce.

Xiaomi rolls out MIUI 7 global beta ROM for supported devices
Xiaomi has released MIUI 7 global beta ROMs for smartphones running on developer version. It also also being rolled out over-the-air (OTA). MIUI 7 brings new themes, up to 10% better battery life for daily use, optimized system response time by up to 30%, Showtime, four additional Indian language support, XXL Text size and Baby album. The MIUI 7 is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
MIUI 7 is available for compatible devices including Redmi 1s, Redmi 2, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Mi 4i, Mi 3 and Mi 4. If you're already running a beta ROM on your device, simply update it via updater app on your phone.

Xiaomi introduces the Android Lollipop-based MIUI 7 in China
Xiaomi has introduced the MIUI 7, the latest MIUI ROM based on Android 5.1 Lollipop in China. It comes with a handful of improvement over MIUI 6 including refreshed user interface, performance improvement, new Mi roaming, faster response speed and better battery life.
MIUI 7 brings four personalized system UI for women, girls, boys and luxury version. Each offers redesigned desktop icons, individual design elements and more. Standard MIUI 7 has five sets system UI that can be changed during boot. There is a MUSE Theme creation tool that lets designers create themes without programming.
MIUI 7 promises faster system response time and animation by about 30% as compared to MIUI 6. It has optimized CPU scheduling mechanism, strict background power management to let an app to wake up only when needed, thus limiting unneccesart use of WiFi, data network or location services in the background. This results in improvement of battery life by 7% to 25% as compared to MIUI 6.
For those with poor eyesight, MIUI 7 features a new large font with optimized spacing and layout. T There's also a new gallery feature, which is capable of recognizing faces in photos The new Kids mode hides all personal information and desktop layouts, so that kids can access apps which is allowed. Also there is a My business card that lets you add your image or a five second video that will show up on your friend's screen when you call them.
An intersting addition to the Chinese MIUI 7 is Mi Roaming, a new virtual SIM service that works in 36 regions, including China, Hong Kong, the U.S, Japan, UK and Australia. Intenational roaming can be enjoyed in these regions and you can buy data at an average price of just CNY 0.1 per MB or starting at CNY 15 per GB.
Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi revealed that there are 750 researchers in the MIUI research and developer team and more than 150 million users worldwide use MIUI in 156 countries.
MIUI 7 will be rolling out via an OTA update to the Mi 2, Mi 2S, Mi 2A, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note, and the Redmi Note starting tomorrow.
The MIUI 7 Global ROM will be introduced on August 19 in New Delhi, India.
Xiaomi's MIUI 7 to be unveiled on August 13
Xiaomi has scheduled an event on August 13 to unveil the next iteration of its MIUI ROM, the MIUI 7. The event will take place at the China National Convention Center in Beijing.
The MIUI 7 is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. There are not many details about the latest ROM. However, as usual the beta version of MIUI 7 will roll out to Mi smartphones first week after the announcement. Most certainly, it will first roll out to Xiaomi's higher-end phones from the ilk of the Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi Note, and Mi Note Pro. Rumors speculate that Xiaomi's next flagship the Mi 5 will be the first to run the new OS.
The MIUI 6 was introduced last year in August that brought flat UI and new features. MIUI 6 was initially based on Android 4.4 KitKat, but later got Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. The Mi 4i runs MIUI 6 based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

Xiaomi at its MIUI 7 event in Beijing, China unveiled the highly anticiapted Redmi Note 2 along with Redmi Note 2 prime. Both handset differ only by clock speed of processor and on-board storage.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 features 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS displat with 178-degree viewing angles. Inside there is a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor with PowerVR G6200 GPU and 2GB LPDDR3 RAM. On-board storage is 16GB.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime packs 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor and comes with 32GB on-board storage. Rest of the specs is same as Redmi Note 2.
For imaging there is 13-megapixel Samsung rear camera sensor with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and is claimed to feature a shutter speed of 0.1 second. The rear camera features aperture of f/2.2 and a 5-element lens. On the front there is a 5-megapixel shooter with OmniVision sensor and 1.4-micron pixel.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 runs Android MIUI 7 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, has dual SIM slot and supports 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS + GLONASS and Micro USB 2.0 connectivity. It is fueled by 3060mAh battery. The phone measures 152mm x 76mm x 8.25mm, with an overall weight of 160g. It comes in Dark Grey, White, Blue, Bright Yellow and Pink flavors.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is priced at CNY 899 (US$ 140 | Rs. 9,000) and Redmi Note 2 Prime costs CNY 999 (US$ 155 | Rs. 10,000). There is also a 3G variant of Redmi Note 2 which will be available for CNY 799 ( US$ 125 | Rs. 8,000). It will go on sale in China starting August 14.

MIUI 7 Global ROM Revealed, Beta ROMs available August 24
Xiaomi at its MIUI 7 launch event in New Delhi, introduced the global MIUI 7 ROM. The MIUI 7 which goes by the slogan "Yours by Design" has a deeply optimized interface that allows for extensive customization. It comes with a bevy on new features, including new themes, lockscreen animation, battery battery life and much more.
The main features of the new MIUI 7 include:
- 4 new system UIs, Rose, Pink Blush, Ocean Breeze, High Life, in adittion to the default one.
- New HD wallpapers with 10 pre-set available in Daily lock screen rotation (only in India).
- MUSE Theme creation tool lets designers create themes without programming.
- Optimized system response time by loading data and app animation in parallel. It is 30% faster compared to MIUI 6.
- Improved battery life of up to 25% as compared to MIUI 6, giving 3 hours extended use each day.
- XXL Text size that adjusts conversation layouts, line breaks to offer greater readability.
- Baby Album groups precious baby photos in your camera roll convenienty in once place, so you can browse and share pictures easily with your loved ones.
- Child Mode limits access to personal information like e-mails and messages, so that children can access the apps that you approve to give access to.
- For Mi Band users, its switches your phone to DND (Do Not Disturb) mode when it detects that you're asleep.
- Showtime - You can record a short video loop on your phone and exchange contact card with friends (out in coming months).
- Data Saver powered by Opera Max compresses browser and in-app media saving up to 50% of data usage. (Coming in September n China, India, Brasil, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines.)
- Interactive Visual Response (IVR) in India for banking, booking air tickets and more from 50 Indian partners.
- Supports 4 new Indian language Marathi, Assamese, Gujurati, Punjabi, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam that was supported before, so now MIUI supports 10 Indian languages.
- Mute specific notifications separately
- Identify a OTP (one time password) from SMS to easily copy and paste it.
The beta build of MIUI 7 will be available for all Xiaomi handsets starting Monday, August 24 for Beta-supported Mi devices namely Redmi 1s, Redmi 2, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 3G and Redmi Note 4G
