Xiaomi sells record breaking 800,000 units of Redmi Note 2 in 12 hours in China
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 that was unveiled last week, went on sale in China on Sunday via flash sale. The sales figure is stunning as Xiaomi sold 800,000 Redmi Note 2 units in the first 12 hours of sale, which is a new record of smartphone sales for the Chinese company.
Back in April Xiaomi made their way into the Guinness Book of World Records for selling a total of 2.11 million smartphones online in 24 hours during Mi Fan Fest in China.
Xiaomi also collaborated with China's largest taxi-hailing app, Didi Dache for the first time to offer on-demand deliver for Mi phones on Sunday. Xiaomi's President Bil Lin delivered some units personally on a green Lamborghini.
The next flash sale of Redmi Note 2 is scheduled for August 24.
Specs-wise, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 features 5.5-inch 1080p display and is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 SoC, with with 2GB RAM and 16GB/32GB internal storage. For imaging there is 13-megapixel rear unit with LED flash and 5-megapixel front shooter. It is backed by 3060mAh battery, has dual SIM Slot and runs the new MIUI 7 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Xiaomi is holding an event this Wednesday in New Delhi, India to unveil the international version of MIUI 7. It is uncertain whether Xiaomi would be launching the Redmi Note 2 in the same event or not.
Due to patent infringment of Ericsson’s Standard Essential Patents (SEPs), Xiaomi is not allowed to sell MediaTek SoC powered smartphones in India. However, Redmi Note 2 might come to Indian shores with a Snapdragon SoC, most likely the Snapdragon 615.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 2 Prime with 5.5-inch FHD display, Helio X10 SoC and MIUI 7 goes official
Xiaomi at its MIUI 7 event in Beijing, China unveiled the highly anticiapted Redmi Note 2 along with Redmi Note 2 prime. Both handset differ only by clock speed of processor and on-board storage.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 features 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS displat with 178-degree viewing angles. Inside there is a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor with PowerVR G6200 GPU and 2GB LPDDR3 RAM. On-board storage is 16GB.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime packs 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor and comes with 32GB on-board storage. Rest of the specs is same as Redmi Note 2.
For imaging there is 13-megapixel Samsung rear camera sensor with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and is claimed to feature a shutter speed of 0.1 second. The rear camera features aperture of f/2.2 and a 5-element lens. On the front there is a 5-megapixel shooter with OmniVision sensor and 1.4-micron pixel.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 runs Android MIUI 7 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, has dual SIM slot and supports 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS + GLONASS and Micro USB 2.0 connectivity. It is fueled by 3060mAh battery. The phone measures 152mm x 76mm x 8.25mm, with an overall weight of 160g. It comes in Dark Grey, White, Blue, Bright Yellow and Pink flavors.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is priced at CNY 899 (US$ 140 | Rs. 9,000) and Redmi Note 2 Prime costs CNY 999 (US$ 155 | Rs. 10,000). There is also a 3G variant of Redmi Note 2 which will be available for CNY 799 ( US$ 125 | Rs. 8,000). It will go on sale in China starting August 14.

Possible image of Xiaomi's much-anticiapted Redmi Note 2 has been leaked online courtesy Chinese tipster @Kjuma. In addition, a photograph of the box that the Redmi Note 2 will come in also was leaked.
The image features the 'About' screen of the Redmi Note 2 and reveals that it runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with MIUI 6 on top and comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. @kjuma claims that the Redmi Note 2 will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795 processor. The device will be priced close to $177 (Rs. 11,300). A previous leak showed that the phone will be priced $128 (Rs. 8,100).
Last month the Redmi Note 2 was listed by China's TENAA and revealed there will be two version. One powered by MediaTek MT6795 processor and the other with Snadragon 615 processor. These could possibly come at different price points depending upon different regions.
As per TENAA listing, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will have 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and powered by 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processor with Power VR G6200 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card). It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with MIUI on to and supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, GPS connectivity. For imaging, there is a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and 5-megapixel front shooter. It is backed by 3200mAh battery. It is likely to come in black, white, red, orange, yellow and green colors.
Xiaomi's Redmi Note 2 is rumored to be launched the same day the company introduces MIUI 7. That happens on August 13 in China.
