LG's new SmartThinQ Sensor monitors home appliances
LG's new gadget, SmartThinQ Sensor works with traditional home appliances and helps you monitor day to day home appliances and let you control them.
SmartThinQ Sensor is a circular device and can be attached to existing home appliances such as washing machine or refregirator, to sense feedback such as vibration and temperature.
For instance, attaching the sensor to a washing machine door transforms its into a smart appliance and you will be informed when the washing is done. When attached to refrigerator SmartThinQ sensor will send a notification to a paired smartphone when a particular food is about to expire. It can also be connected to an air conditioner or other appliances which allows users to take control remotely via SmartThinQ app. The sensor also keeps track of how many time you opened the door even when you're not at home.
LG also introduced an AllJoyn compatible Smart Lightwave oven and Smart Air Conditioner. AllJoyn is a collaborative open-source software framework that makes it easy for devices and apps to discover and communicate with each other.
The Smart Lightwave Oven from LG is WiFi enabled and users can download, update and share recipes with friends via their mobile devices. It can even perform self-diagnosis and help find solutions and repair information online via LG's service center. While the Smart Air Conditioner can be controlled via smartphone and will inform owners when to replace the air filter.
The gadgets will be showcased at IFA event in Berlin next week.

Apple updates iPod Touch with A8 chip, brings new colors to shuffle, nano
In 2001, Apple took the digital music industry by storm by introducing the iPod. It was a tiny device which could store many songs and play them. Back then everyone wanted or owned an iPod and it sold like hot cakes. Since then Apple added new features like video playback, web browsing and even a touchscreen and the iPod got divided into different variant like the Classic, nano, Shuffle, mini and touch, with updated models and variants being regularly introduced.
However, Apple reduced the release of the iPod after 2010, as the next model was launched in 2012, iPod Nano (7th generation) iPod Shuffle (4th gen) and iPod touch (5th gen). This was the time when cheap phone with multimedia features hit the market with voice calling, reducing the demand for iPod because people were hearing songs via their phones.
Now, three years later Apple has updated its iPod lineup, more specifically the iPod Touch with faster processor, better camera and new colors. Plus the iPod shuffle and iPod nano comes in new colors.
The updated iPod Touch packs a faster 64-bit Apple A8 chip with the M8 motion co-processor for fitness tracking. It sports 8-megapixel iSight camera with f/2.4 aperture, LED flash and 1080p video recording. On the front there is an 1.2-megaixel shooter with f/2.2 aperture and 720p video recoding capabilities. It also includes support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1. The iPod Touch features the same 4-inch (1136 x 640 pixels) Multi-Touch IPS display. The updated iPod Touch is not all about power, as it is more colorful now. It comes in Space Grey, Gold, Silver, Blue and Pink.
Apple's new music streaming service that offers unlimited playback of millions of songs, Apple Music will also be available on iPod Touch through the Music app. It comes with 3-month trial, after the expiration of trial it costs Rs. 120/month for an indiviual and Rs. 190/month for family plan where up to six members can use the service.
The update iPod Touch is priced at Rs.18,900 (inc VAT) for the 16GB model, Rs. 22,900 (inc VAT) for 32GB and Rs. 26,900 inc (inc VAT) for 64GB model. There is also a 128GB model that costs $US 399 and at present is available only in the U.S, in addition to the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models that are priced at US$ 199, US$ 249 and US$ 299 accordingly.

Samsung's latest monitor can wirelessly charge your phone
Samsung introduced the world's first monitor with an integrated wireless charging function of mobile devices, the SE370. It works with all mobile devices that use the Qi wireless charging standard.
The wireless charging is integrated in the monitor's stand. You will need to place your device on the stand's charging area to charge it, which is confirmed by an LED light. Samsung SE370 has an ultra-narrow bezel and semi-transparent blue finish frame with white glossy body on all four sides.
The SE370 monitor comes in 23.6 and 27-inch sizes and features a display screen that offers high-performance Plane-to-Line-Switching (PLS) panel that allows users to experience 178 degree wide viewing angle and an excellent picture quality with vivid and clear image up to a 300 cd/m2 brightness. There is also an eye saver mode that reduces the harmful effects of blue light on your eyes by optimizing environmental settings.
The SE370 supports AMD's Freesync technology for a faster refresh rate and minimizes input latency, as as reduces stutter and lag during gaming and video playback. The game mode detects scene changes and corrects blurry images, enhances colors and alters contrast for improved visibility. The monitor has a Eco Saving Plus function that reduces screen brightness for increased energy efficiency. The on-screen display (OSD) mode reduces energy consumption by 10 percent based on the luminescence of the screen's black section.
The Samsung SE370 is compatible with Windows 10 and Mac, and comes with one HDMI 1.4, one DisplayPort and one D-Sub ports.

ZUK demos working prototype of transparent display phone
ZUK, Lenovo's online-only brand recently announced its first smartphone named ZUK Z1 in China. The Lenovo-backed startup also showcased a working smartphone prototype with transparent display screen, somewhat similar to the one you may have seen in Marvel's Iron Man movie.
As you can see in the image, the prototype smartphone features a near bezel-less frame on the transparent glass-like display. The prototype device performs all the functions of a traditional smartphone like making calls, displaying galley pictures and play music. It features an Android-like interface.
Lenovo's ZUK is not the only to tease a prototype smartphone with a transparent display, the likes of Samsung and LG have already showcased prototypes on transparent displays in the past.
Smartphone makers are obsessed with curved or edge displays and reducing the bezels on its phones to a bare minimum, but ZUK's prototype device is apparently taking things to a whole new level.

Logitech has launched a new portable Bluetooth speaker, 'Logitech X50 Mobile Wireless Speaker' in India. It comes in a range of colors like grey, yellow, blue and orange and will be available across the country soon for Rs. 2,495. It has two buttons for volume controls and a power button that is also used for Bluetooth pairing.
The wireless speaker features a Bluetooth connection which has a range up to 30 feet, allowing you to pair and stream music from paired devices. Apart from Bluetooth, it also has a 3.5mm auxiliary input.If you don't want to play music via Bluetooth, just plug your phone into its auxiliary jack.
The speaker has a 750mAh battery that delivers up to 5 hours of continuous playback on a single charge. The speaker can be charged via micro-USB. It is compact, weighs just 142g, making it easy to carry and is meant to deliver a rich audio experience on the go.
Xiaomi announces Mi Wi-Fi nano router that can be powered by a power bank
Xiaomi at its Mi product launch event in China launched the Mi WiFi nano wireless router that can fit in your palm and can be carried in your pocket. It weighs just 100 grams. The main highlight of Mi Wi-Fi nano router is that it can be plugged into a 10000mAh Mi Power Bank and offer up to 30 hours of usage.
The wireless router supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n WiFi standards at 2.4GHz and comes with external PCB antenna (2 x 2) offering a maximum speed of up to 300Mbps. It has two 100M LAN port and one 100M WAN port. It includes Red, Blue and Yellow LED indicators.
It comes with 64MB DDR2 RAM, has 16GB of storage, is based on MediaTek MT7628N chipset and offers Micro USB port. According to Xiaomi, the Mi Wi-Fi nano router with its external PCB antenna offer increase signal strength and offers up to 150 meter coverage. The router can also be controlled via a Smart MI smartphone app to manage the router settings. It comes in Mint Green, Yellow Sky, Blue, White, Black and Pink flavors.
The Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi nano wireless router is priced at CNY 79 (US$ 12 | Rs. 800) and will go on sale starting August 16.
LG introduces Music Flow P5 and SoundPop 360 Bluetooth speakers
LG introduced two new models of Bluetooth speakers, the Music Flow P5 (NP5550) and SoundPop 360 (NP7860). Both the speakers will be debuting IFA 2015 in Berlin.
LG Music Flow P5 supports LG's Auto Music Play feature which automatically begins music playback when the audio source comes within range. It has 10W output and has a 2100mAh battery that promises 15 hours of continuous playback on a single charge. It weighs just 600g.
LG SoundPop 360 has an unconventional design that is said to inspired by a coffee tumbler and is extremely portable. It is a perfect fit for any interior decorating scheme and blends with the user's other furniture and appliances. The cylindrical speaker has a 360 degree range, delivering clear audio even for large group. It promises up to 20 hours of battery life on a single charge.
Both speakers supports multi-point connectivity so that users can connect the speakers to three Bluetooth devices at the same time, and simultaneously control the devices and share music.The speakers also have TV Sound Sync feature that allows either speaker to be connected to a Bluetooth-compatible TV to create a personal home theater.
LG's Music Flow P5 is priced at $99 and will be available sometime in October in the U.S. It will be also be available in India for Rs. 8,990. As for SoundPop 360, the pricing and availability details are not outed yet. Both speaker will be displayed at IFA 2015 from September 4-9.

Nokia's OZO VR camera is built for professional filmmakers
Nokia has forayed into the virtual reality arena by outing a virtual reality (VR) camera dubbed OZO. It is designed and built for professional content creator and helps capture 360-degree video and audio.
The OZO is said to be the first in the portfolio of digital media solutions from Nokia Technologies, the company's advanced technology and licensing business. It will be manufactured in Finland.
OZO captures stereoscopic 3D video through eight synchronized global shutter sensors and spatial audio through eight integrated microphones. The OZO software has been built to enable real-time 3D viewing. The recorded content can be published to virtual reality hardware such as commercially available headsets.
Nokia alongside also announced that Palo Alto-based VR production company Jaunt has committed to support OZO by offering the camera for use in Jaunt Studios and by supporting content produced with OZO through its post-production services.
The OZO VR camera is expected to start shipping in Q4 2015. Details about pricing and full technical specifications will be announced soon.
LG's Rolly Keyboard, a portable wireless keyboard that folds into a stick
LG electronics introduced Rolly Keyboard, a rollable wireless portable keyboard. It folds up along the four rows to create an easy-to-carry stick that fits into one's pocket.
The keyboard features high-contrast keys and a fold-out mobile device stand to support smartphone and tablets up to 10-inch in size. It has 17mm key pitch that makes typing extremely easy and comfortable.
Made out of impact-resistant and durable polycarbonate and ABS plastic, there are two sturdy arms fold out to support smartphone and tablet in an upright position. It pairs with your Android devices via Bluetooth 3.0 which is activated by simply unfolding it. The keyboard also has auto pairing function to connect two devices at the same time. You can toggle between the two devices with a simple key press. For power, it uses single AAA battery that promises up to 3 months of battery life on average use.
LG's Rolly Keyboard will be available in the U.S in September followed by Europe, Latin Americaa and Asia in Q4 2016. Pricing and availabilty details will be announced locally. The keyboard will be showcased at IFA, Berlin scheduled for September 4 to 9.

Qualcomm's WiPower enables wireless charging for devices with metal backs
Qualcomm announced a new wireless charging technology that will enable wireless charging feature for mobile devices sporting metal exteriors dubbed WiPower. This technology is complaint with the Rezence standard that is based on Near Field Magnetic Resonance technology. Qualcomm claims it to be the "first announced solution to support wireless charging for metal devices."
WiPower enables simultaneous charging of multiple devices with different power requirements while using Bluetooth Smart to minimize hardware requairements. It operates at a frequency that is more tolerant of metal objects and allows all smartphone sporting metal exteriors to be wirelessly charged at a faster speed (up to 22 watts of power). The technology enables more flexibility by eliminating the need for precise alignment or physical contact with receiving device.
Notably wireless charging technology, until now, was available to devices sporting plastic, polycarbonate and rubber back cover and was not compatible with devices with metal panel. Some of the smartphones in the market sporting metal exterior include the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge among others.
The techniques for designing a phone to charge via metal back cover alongside full suite of WiPower reference designs are now available for WiPower licensees.

BlackBerry-like Keyboard Covers for Samsung Galaxy Note5 and S6 edge+ official
Samsung at the Galaxy Unpacked event introduced the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+. The company alongside the new phablets unveiled BlackBerry-like keyboard cover. When this keyboard-case is attached to the phone it transforms it into a portrait QWERTY smartphone.
Samsung says that you will be able to type more accurately and with greater speed with the QWETY keyboard. It sports a thin design and is compact so you can carry it easily and attach it when required. This also protects the back of the phone against damage such as scratches, knocks and drops.
The keyboard snaps on top of the phone's display. After it is attached, the phone recognizes the keyboard cover and adjusts the UI accordingly, making only the top half of the screen exposed. The Key presses are sensed by the screen automatically due to the capacitive technology, so it does not require Bluetooth pairing or batteries to run.
They come in Black, Silver and Gold flavors, costs $80 and are expected to be available next month. This is an attempt by Samsung to tap consumers who still prefer physical QWERTY keyboards just below the screen.

Samsung announces three 360 wireless speakers - R1, R3 and R5
Samsung Electronics announced three new Wireless Audio 360 speaker, the R5, R3 and R1. The speakers are omni-directional and sports premium tablet top design that enables them to fit seamlessly into any home. They provide high quality balanced sound.
The R5, R3 and R1 features a new built-in tap-and-swipe and physical control options for hassle free user experience. You can change the volume, play pause or select a different music source with a gentle touch, tap or swipe on the top of the speaker.
They come with a improved Multiroom app that can be used on smartphones, tablets and smartwatches as well. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and allows you to seamlessly share music across devices that are connected over the same WiFi network. Users can also easily find and select music, and create playlists all from a single screen.

This is how Apple flip phones will look like [Concept]
Martin Hajek who is known for visualizing future gadgets in 3D has left little to the imagination with some superb 3D renders of how Apple's flip phone for the Japanese market will look like. He describes it as a 'Fun Project'.
Japanese are still in love with the old-school flip phones for factor, this is why Martin Hajek created this concept that fuses Apple's software on a clamshell body.
"Over in Japan people are still crazy for these so-called ‘garakei’ phones; the huge flipphones which have been around for ages. Despite the iPhone’s huge popularity in Japan the Japanese just can’t get enough of these mobile monstrosities. Presenting the garakeiPhone! Probably too difficult to engineer but still – a fun project to do … and hopefully see. :-)"
The Apple flip phone is shown with three multi-touch display, one on the outside of the device that alerts users of incoming notifications, calls, texts, etc. There is no physical keyboard, but it would have an input screen which displays the virtual keyboard, emoticons and any other mechanism that the OS presents. The Home button is placed above it and there is one on the outside too. The main display shows context and details such as messaging, e-mail conversation and apps. The bottom rear corner of the Apple flip phone would feature a laynard detail to allow the device to be hung or worn around the neck. It will be available in Gold, Space Gray and the newly introduced rose gold flavors.

Google introduces the $200 'OnHub' Smart Wi-Fi Router
Google launched a new WiFi router called OnHub, its latest IoT (Internet of Things) device It is a cylindrical-shaped router and can also function as a smart home hub which can connect to other home appliances. According to Google, OnHub's circular design will allow the router have better coverage in a house.
The router comes with 13 antenna (six 2.4GHz antennas, six 5GHz antennas and a congestion-sensing antenna) that will automatically scan the airwaves to spot the fastest connection. User can prioritise a device for data heavy activities such as downloading content or steaming movies.
OnHub router is powered by Qualcomm chip with 1GB RAM and 4GB storage. It will be automatically updated with new features and security updates. It offers connectivity options such as Bluetooth Smart Ready and Weave. The router connects to Android and iOS devices via Google's On app to run network checks and keep track of bandwidth use.
Google has partnered with TP-LINK to manufacture the router. Google will also partner with Asus soon to launch OnHub devices in the future.
Google's OnHub costs 200 (Rs. 13,000) and is up for pre-order via Play Store, TP-LINK store, Walmart and Amazon in the U.S.

Motorola, in addition to Moto G 3rd gen, Moto X Style and Moto X Play also unveiled two Bluetooth-enabled headphones, the Moto Surround and Moto Pulse.
The Moto Surround come with an in-ear design, is compatible with any Bluetooth powered phones and is waterproof and sweatproof. It has dedicated buttons to play, pause, skip tracks and it also notifies users of incoming calls. Users can make a call or send message via voice controls. It supports AptX for better wireless clarity and comes with a wireless range of 150 feat. It offers 13 hours of audio playback, 15 hours of talk time, and 30 days of standby time. These can also pair with two devices simultaneously such as phone, tablet or PC. Moto Surround comes in Black/Blue and Black/Charcol flavors.
Moto Pulse has a on-ear design and comes with a wireless range of up to 60 feet. There is an built-in microphone for hands-free calling. It has a 40mm speaker drivers that delivers rich bass and audio output. The built-in battery delivers 18 hours of audio playback. The headphone can pair with two devices simultaneously. Moto Pulse comes in Chalk and black flavors.

Fenda Audio launches F550X 2.1 Bluetooth speaker for Rs. 4,290
Sound technology company Fenda Audio, popularly known and F&D, launched it latest Bluetooth speaker, the F550X 2.1 in India. The Bluetooth speaker comes with 3-inch full range driver and 6.5-inch bass driver for the sub-woofer.
F&D's F550X 2.1 has a unique X design with multi-colored LEDs available in reg, green and purple. It connects to the smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0 or NFC. Bluetooth enabled devices offer an audio playback range of up to 15 meters. It also has a USB port, microSD card slot and Aux-in-port so that you can play stored media files from your mobile device or memory card. There is also FM Radio and up to 100 stations can be stored. Also included is a remote control.

SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick is a USB flash drive with Wireless capabilities
SanDisk expanded its mobile storage protfolio with a new wireless mobile flash drive called Connect Wireless Stick. It is a small USB flash drive that also doubles up as wireless server.
SanDisk's Connect Wireless Stick works with laptops, smartphones and PC and connects them with its built in WiFi hotspot enabling easy sharing, transferring and accessing media contents between them. You can also wirelessly transfer and access bulky files or stream media contents from up to three mobile devices simultaneously. The device can stream HD video at 2Mbps for up to 4.5 hours on a single charge. The stick can also be plugged to PC and laptop devices to use it as a regular USB drive.
The Connect Wireless Stick looks like a regular flash drive but has built in wireless capabilities. You have to copy the files and then switch on the wireless functionality and connect to it to access them. Currently it supports Android.
SanDisk also introduced a new SanDisk Connect app. Using the app you can manage content between Android, iOS, Mac, PC and Fire tablets. The app is available for download from Google Play, Apple App Store and Amazon Appstore for Android. The app also includes auto-backup of images, videos and camera roll.
The SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick will be available in 16, 32, 64 and 128GB variants costing $25, $40, $60 and $99 accordingly. It is available in the U.S via Amazon, BestBuy and company website. There is no word when it will reach other regions.

It features noise cancellation tecghnology, dynamic bass, clear audio playback and an one-button inline microphone integrated in a tangle-free cable to switch between your calls and music playback.
The EP-600m earphones sports a superior noise-isolating in-ear design that seals your ears from the world around you for maximum listening pleasure. It has 10mm powerful Neodymium drivers and offer frequency response of 20Hz-20KHz. It has removable soft silicone eartips available in three sizes, small, medium and large.
Creative's EP-600m in-ear earphone costs Rs. 799 and will be available across the country in the coming days.
