LG Watch Urbane Luxe 23-Karat Gold-Plated smartwatch announced

LG announced a special limited edition of its luxury Android Wear smartwatch, Watch Urbane, called the LG Watch Urbane Luxe. It features 23-karat gold-plated body and has been made in collaboration with US-based Reeds Jewelers. Only 500 limited edition watched will be made engraved with its own serial number for authenticity.

The watch comes with a gorgeous alligator leather strap and sports a deployment clasp for a fitted elegant look, which makes the watch more exclusive and unique. It is based on the technology of Louis Cartier in 1910. The alligator band is handcrafted at the highest level of craftsmanship undergoing 50 separate steps in its creation. It comes in an "exclusive piano-gloss lacquer case."

The 23-karat gold used in the LG Watch Urbane Luxe is stronger and harder than the 24-karat gold used in jewelry and heavier than the 18-karat gold used in traditional luxury watches, said the company. The technical specification of Watch Urbane Luxe remains the same as Watch Urbane

LG Watch Urbane Luxe is priced at $1200 (Rs. 80,000) and will go on sale in the U.S by the end of October. Pre-orders begin in September at jeweler REEDS. The watch will be showcased at IFA 2015 in Berlin from September 4 to 9.

Samsung Gear S2 circular Tizen-based smartwatch gets official

Samsung has unveiled its latest range of Gear S2 smartwatches, Gear S2, Gear S2 3G and Gear S2 Classic. The Gear S2 and Gear S2 3G models comes with silicone band offering a minimal and modern design while the Gear S2 Classic features a more premium black finish and a matching genuine leather strap.

All three run on comapany's home grown Tizen based wearable platform and sports a circular display with rotating bezels that allows users to scroll, zoom, etc. They also have home and back buttons to access apps and notifications.

Samsung's Gear S2 sports a 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display with 360 x 360 pixel resolution (~302ppi) and is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. They are IP68 certified for dust and water resistant. They connect with compatible devices via Bluetooth 4.1 LE, and offer NFC support for mobile payments. It also features an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, and barometer. It is powered by a 250mAh battery that supports wireless charging and is IP68 cerified for dust and water resistant.

The Gear S2 3G has built-in e-SIM support that lets you independently make and receive calls, without connecting to a device and also offers 3G support. It is backed by 300mAh Li-ion battery (Gear S2 3G) that also supports wireless charging. Rest of the specs are same as standard model.

Samsung promises two to three days of battery life for the Gear S2, compared with Apple Watch's 18 hours.

The Gear S2 has dimensions of 42.3x49.8x11.4mm, weighs 47 grams and comes in Dark Grey case w/ Dark Grey band and Silver case w/ White band. The Gear S2 Classic has dimensions of 39.9x43.6x11.4mm, weighs 42 grams and comes in Black case w/ Leather band.

Samsung teases Gear S2 smartwatch, announcement at IFA on September 3

Samsung had a surprise in store at its Galaxy Unpacked event, New York. Just minutes before the Unpacked event wrapped up, the company teased its latest smartwatch. Samsung Galaxy Gear S2, that's what it will be called made a brief appearance in a teaser video, giving us an idea of its design.

Samsung Galaxy Gear S2 teaser shows that the smartwatch will have a round dial just like the LG Watch Urbane, Moto 360 or Huawei Watch. The body is made out of metal. The UI of the Gear S2 is different from Android Wear, hinting Samsung might use its home grown Tizen OS, similar to the Gear S that was launched last year.

The teaser also shows circular navigation ring around its display. The App icons like S Voice, Phone dialer, Message, Nike+, S Health and more icons are arranged in a circle on the Gear S. Also teased was the Heart Rate Sensor, so it will be a fitness oriented device.

So when will all the official details be out? It will be unvieled at IFA 2015, Berlin on September 3.
